    = (150W - 400W) / 400W

    = -63%


Summary

The lighting trial has proven the effectiveness of the change from HID Metal Halide to Induction lighting. The propose lighting not only manage to reduce electricity consumption but also increase brightness significantly (from 27lx to 138lx).


Induction lighting also provide long-lasting light source color maintenance. Therefore lighting would not turn “yellow” unlike HID lamps over a period of time.

    (400W x 160units) + (250W x 40 units)  = 74,000W


New:              

    (200W x 130 units) + (150W x 40 units) = 32,000W


Energy Saved

    = (32,000 - 74,000) / 74,000

    = -56%


Summary

Using LUMENEXT Induction lighting, the high bay fixture wattage used was reduced to 200W instead of 400W HID lamps and Street light wattage was also reduce from 250W HPS to 150W Induction Street lighting. Total energy reduction was -56%

Total Energy Reduction

= (1,000W x 200) - (200W x 460) / (1,000W x 200)

= (200,000 - 92,000) / 200,000

= -54%

Summary

The previous lighting was using very high power discharge lamps of 1,000W. The engine factory was facing very high operating temperature and thus the high powered lamps was contributing significantly to the temperature. Lifespan of the old lamps was only within 3 to 6 months and cost of changing the lamps at the height of 25m are not efficient for the factory.


The propose change was to the efficient 200W induction highbay. Operating temperature is maintained at room temperature as induction surface temperature is at the maximum of 60 degrees celcius and thus at 25.0m height would not contribute to the high level of operating temperature at the surface. With the long life-span, the maintenance free is ideal with the high ceiling height. With extra lamps, uniformity has increase significantly and thus work environment and illumination has improved.
